POWDER ALERTS- NORTHERN ROCKIES- SNOW CONTINUES

Very active weather bringing steady snow to the front range foothills near Denver this morning (3-7 inches has already fallen in Boulder). Cold air from Alaska kicked off heavy snow at Grand Targhee, Jackson Hole, Beaver Creek, and many areas from Aspen north (8-12 inches). Steady light snowfall will continue over Northeast Colorado (Denver Foothills, Eldora, Winter Park) through Wednesday afternoon (2-5 additional). Colorado will see intermittent light snowfall near the Continental Divide and Front Range for much of this week.
Midweek: The Real Deal?
A moist system will spread moderate to heavy snow over Oregon an Northern California Wednesday-Thursday. Some areas of the South Cascades (Crystal Mountain) may see the northern edge of moisture. Light snow is even possible near Seattle this week (Light accumulations in WA, Heavy in Oregon and points south. Tahoe resorts grab the southern edge of precipitation however models point to some light snow likely for many areas (More on the Western Crest and points north) Wednesday night and Thursday.
ROCKIES- POWDER ALERT:
Heavy snow from Oregon will edge into central Idaho, Northern Wasatch, Tetons and southern Montana Thursday. The hot spots are likely going to be from northern Utah, central Idaho, and the Tetons. Steady snow will be falling in many areas near Grand Targhee, JHMR through Friday (5-10 inches). Southern Montana will be in the moderate zone (3-7). The northern Wasatch grabs some freshies (2-6 Snowbird, Alta Solitude, Brighton, Park City, Canyons), and 4-7- Powder Mountain, Snowbasin and points north) Thursday/Friday.
Snow from the Tetons edges south towards Colorado on Saturday/Sunday. Intensities increase Saturday PM and Sunday with a good 6-10 inches likely Statewide. Higher amounts will fall in the central and northern mountain ranges. Snow will also pick up over central and northern Utah with a good shot of another 4-8 inches of snow (Saturday/Sunday).
Extended: The middle of next week looks very active with hints of a pattern change dropping the jet further south at central California and a good portion of the central and southern Rockies. Still too far out for accuracy but confidence is gaining. Stay tuned!
