KEYSTONE, Colo. — Keystone Resort is opening for the 2026-27 ski season today, Friday, October 30, offering more than two miles of skiing and snowboarding across 43 acres of terrain.
The Summit County ski resort will operate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with access to Schoolmarm and Silver Spoon via the Montezuma Express chairlift. Skiers and snowboarders will use the River Run Gondola to reach the open terrain and return to the base area at the end of their day.
Keystone is also opening a hike-to terrain park on Scout, giving freestyle skiers and snowboarders an opportunity to hit features before the resort’s larger terrain parks open for the season.
Keystone Kicks Off Its 2026-27 Ski Season
The opening follows several weeks of snowmaking preparations as Keystone’s mountain operations team worked to establish enough coverage for early-season skiing.
Keystone joins nearby Arapahoe Basin, which opened October 28, as Colorado’s ski season begins to gain momentum ahead of November.
“We’re thrilled to kick off our ski season.Opening in October is a huge testament to the tireless and innovative work of our team. Being one of the earliest resorts to open means so much to our employees and guests, and we can’t wait to share the first turns of the season with all of them.” -Shannon Buhler, VP and COO of Keystone Resort
Opening-day festivities include free coffee and doughnuts for early arrivals, dining specials at Summit House and live DJ entertainment.

More Terrain Expected as Conditions Allow
Keystone plans to expand its available terrain as temperatures and snowmaking conditions permit. For now, guests should be aware that there is no skiable route back to the base area, making the River Run Gondola necessary for both uploading and downloading.
Uphill access remains closed during the early season. Once permitted, uphill travel will be limited to designated routes outside regular lift operating hours.
The resort is also welcoming guests to the new Kindred Resort for its first winter season. Located near the River Run Gondola, the luxury hotel adds a new lodging option at the base of the mountain.
Skiers and snowboarders planning to visit can check Keystone’s official lift and terrain status for the latest information as additional trails become available.
