An Arizona ski resort is getting into the Halloween spirit by turning its mountain coaster and lodge into haunted attractions, complete with zombies, nighttime rides and plenty of opportunities for a good scare.
Sunrise Park Resort, located in Arizona’s White Mountains, is hosting its High Elevation Horror event, with the final two nights scheduled for October 30 and 31, 2026. The resort is offering three Halloween attractions, including a haunted mountain coaster, a haunted hotel and an interactive zombie-shooting experience.
The festivities run from 6 to 9 p.m. on both nights, giving visitors a chance to experience the mountain in a completely different way before ski season begins.
Haunted Coaster, Haunted Hotel and Zombie Shoot
One of the event’s main attractions is the Haunted Coaster, which takes visitors on a nighttime ride through the mountain’s Halloween setting.
The resort’s Sunrise Apache Alpine Coaster features 3,287 feet of track winding through the forest, with individual carts capable of reaching speeds up to 25 mph. Riders control their speed using hand brakes, making the experience suitable for different comfort levels.
For Halloween, the coaster operates after dark, with spooky surprises awaiting visitors along the mountain. A single ride costs $20, while three rides are available for $40.
Visitors looking for something a little different can explore the Haunted Hotel inside Sunrise Park Lodge. The resort has transformed portions of the building into a Halloween attraction, with admission priced at $15 per person.
The third attraction, Zombie Shoot, takes guests aboard a moving bus for an interactive encounter with zombies. Admission costs $40 per person.
For those who want to experience everything, Sunrise offers a $55 Halloween Package that includes one Haunted Coaster ride, one Haunted Hotel admission and one Zombie Shoot experience.
The resort is also offering a $200 overnight package that includes one night at Sunrise Park Lodge and two full-access Halloween passes.
Halloween Fun at One of America’s Southernmost Ski Resorts
Owned and operated by the White Mountain Apache Tribe, Sunrise Park Resort is among the southernmost ski resorts in the United States. During the winter, the mountain offers skiing and snowboarding across three peaks, while its warmer-season attractions include downhill mountain biking, scenic chairlift rides and the alpine coaster.
High Elevation Horror gives the resort a chance to put that infrastructure to work in a different way, turning a familiar mountain recreation destination into a Halloween attraction.
The final two nights are scheduled for Friday, October 30, and Saturday, October 31, from 6 to 9 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to dress warmly, as the event takes place in the mountains of eastern Arizona.
Tickets and additional information are available through Sunrise Park Resort’s official High Elevation Horror event page.
