Just when you thought snowboarding pants and jackets couldn’t get any baggier, this company out of Finland drops their line of 2027 winter gear and redefines loose fitting.
Baggy gear has been part of snowboarding culture for decades, but lately it seems like the trend has gotten a bit cartoonish. We’re talking pants that could easily accommodate two people, jackets that double as tents in emergency situations and enough loose material to potentially function as a parachute on big cliff drops. At this rate, we’re not sure whether some of these riders are heading to the terrain park or preparing to set sail across the Pacific.
We kid of course and fully support folks who take the outwear to the out reaches of wearability…aerodynamics be damned! Snowboarding has always been about individuality, creativity and doing things your own way, and what you wear on the hill is big part of the culture. If you want your Hammer Pants and your jacket hanging down to your ankle, more power to you.
Besides, snowboarding has seen plenty of fashion trends come and go over the years (anyone remember the tight pants/wide stance era) and the oversized look is certainly more entertaining than some of them.
If you like what you see, shop at Mortar Inc. and you’ll find a wide selection of jumbo pants and jackets.
p.s. if you see a dude in the lift line looking like the one below, don’t blow up his spot.
