Alterra Mountain Company has named hospitality and operations executive Kelly Vohs as its new Chief Executive Officer. Vohs will officially take over as CEO on October 19.th He brings nearly three decades of experience managing complex, customer-focused businesses across the hospitality, real estate, and technology industries.

Kelly Vohs Takes Over Alterra Leadership

Vohs most recently served as CEO of SafetyCulture, a global frontline operations platform used by more than 85,000 organizations and 2.5 million frontline workers. Before joining SafetyCulture, Vohs spent more than a decade leading companies within Blackstone’s portfolio. His most recent role there was CEO of LivCor.

His hospitality background includes leadership positions at several major hotels and resorts. Vohs previously served as General Manager of the Boca Raton Resort & Club and the Waldorf Astoria Chicago. He also served as the opening General Manager of the Conrad Chicago. Earlier in his career, Vohs led operations for BR Guest Hospitality, a New York restaurant group with more than 20 restaurants.

Vohs also brings a military background to the position. He served eight years as a Green Beret with the U.S. Army’s 10th Special Forces Group at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs and completed four combat deployments.

New CEO Arrives Ahead of Ski Season

Vohs said some of the best days of his life have taken place in the mountains and that he is excited to return to Colorado. He emphasized the importance of the employees working behind the scenes at Alterra’s resorts, including lift operators, instructors, groomers, chefs, and housekeepers. Vohs and his family will make Denver their home.

Alterra operates a large portfolio of mountain destinations, including Steamboat, Winter Park Resort, Arapahoe Basin, Mammoth Mountain, Palisades Tahoe, Deer Valley Resort, Crystal Mountain, Schweitzer, Tremblant, Sugarbush, Snowshoe Mountain, and Solitude Mountain Resort. The company also operates Ikon Pass, which provides access to more than 70 mountain destinations worldwide.
