Holiday Mountain Ski Resort
Holiday Mountain Ski Resort

Cheers to the good folks at Holiday Mountain Ski Resort in Monticello, New York who found a productive use for a retired lift tower from their old Turkey Trot chairlift.

The sturdy piece of metal tubing will have a second life acting as a new snowcat winch post for their new double black diamond run “Free Bird.” The 43 degree slope requires a winch cat as the terrain is too steep for a snowcat’s traction alone to groom it safely.

“Free Bird’s got a top drop-in headwall that’s going to get a lot of “holy crap”s from those that stand at the summit. We bet you’ll like it!” -Holiday Mountain

Free Bird was cut last season and they are currently installing snow making to make sure its skiable early and often. The new trail is just one of Holiday Mountain’s major upgrades in recent history:

“Going from 3 trails to 19 in 4 winters with 100% new snowmaking, a terrain park, 2 new chairlifts, new learning center and with amazingly varied terrain for all abilities. Holiday should be on your list to check out this winter!” -Holiday Mountain

Cheers to Holiday Mountain who will be celebrating their 70th season this winter with a bevy of fresh terrain for skiers and snowboarders to explore. Lets GO!
