Crested Butte, Colorado — In terms of the top nightmares that skiers have, losing your phone wouldn’t be the top pick, but it’s certainly up there. Dropping your phone from a chairlift could damage or permanently destroy it, especially during the summertime when there’s no snow. What could be a soft landing during the winter, thanks to the ground becoming a bit more of a rocky surface.

In a video shared by Tyler Gage, he was a little too loose with his phone. For a split second, he let go of his phone, leading it to fall on the restraint bar. He acted quickly and caught the phone before it fell into the abyss. As The Chainsmokers suggested, he then took a selfie with his funny little glasses still on. Staged or not, it’s definitely a jaw-dropping thing to watch as a skier. The saxophones were indeed getting louder.

If you’re insane enough (or hate your phone enough) to try and recreate this viral moment, Crested Butte Mountain Resort remains open for summer activities. This includes scenic lift rides, hiking trails, a lift-served mountain biking park, and an adventure park.
