Wild footage from the Norway’s second largest island where a mountain biker decided to intentionally get within inches from the edge of massive 1830 foot cliff soaring above the ocean below.
Professional mountain biker Birk Selquist from Tromsø, Norway has a reputation for his gravitating towards high consequence trails on his bike and this route down Hesten Peak is the quintessential example of it.
In the comment section of the video someone posed the question why Birk would ever attempt such a death defying feat and the videographer answered in his own words:
“Can’t answer for Birk. My answer would be it reconnects me to our mortality (which we tend to forget). When we do we also connect deeper with life. Anyways don’t wanna get too philosophical and don’t want to encourage others to do this.”
Whether or not you agree with taking such obvious risk for a momentary feeling of exhileration, you can appreciate the extreme level of concentration, composure and skill it takes to ride like Birk.
