Inspired by the 3 wingsuit pilots Lukas Loibl, Filip Kubica, and Javi Centeno Gomez who had previously soared through a limestone natural arch in Asturias, Spain, paraglider Anthony Dutruy set his sights on the possibility of opening the first speedflying line through Ojo de Buey.
Taking on a high consequence precision paragliding flightpath is no small feat and requires untold hours of training, scouting, preparation and decision making before taking to the air. Essential parts of the preparation include glide calculations, choice of wing, satellite imagery analysis and detailed weather analysis. Dutruy’s thorough preparations paid off as his world’s first flightpath was flawless:

If you are interesting in checking out Ojo de Buey for yourself, be prepared for a 6.3 mile loop that takes you through beautiful forests and rocky terrain, culminating with wonderful panoramic from the top of Peña Mea, one of the highest peaks in the area. The hike is challenging but getting to check out this incredible natural feature is well worth the effort.
