One of Colorado’s most famous mountain destinations has added an unusual achievement to its long history. Pikes Peak reached a new milestone on Saturday when it officially earned a Guinness World Record title for the most people simultaneously dunking doughnuts into coffee.

According to the City of Colorado Springs, a total of 285 participants gathered at the 14,115 foot summit of Pikes Peak to take part in the coordinated event. Guinness World Records officials confirmed the successful attempt after every participant dunked a doughnut into coffee at the same moment. The record setting celebration was held as part of Colorado’s 150th anniversary and attracted visitors from across the region to one of the state’s most recognizable attractions.

The Summit Visitor Center has become famous for serving its signature doughnuts, which have become a must try experience for travelers making the trip to the summit.
