The Nordkette Gondoal above Innsbruck is playing host to one wildest events in the world. Munky’s Air Jam event was created by Simon Wening, better known as Munky. Simon is a professional parkour and freerunning athlete based in Innsbruck, Austria.

“From July 27 to 30, 2026, the Nordkette above Innsbruck will host what is one of the most creative events this Summer. Athletes will jumping from a moving gondola into a Bagjump airbag. Not a platform, not a controlled indoor setting. A gondola in the middle of a mountain.”

More than 50 top athletes and creators are taking part in the Munky’s Air Jam and leaping from the gondola perched at 6,500 feet on the mountainside into a specially installed platform to support a Bagjump Standalone Airbag.

“This is not a stunt that can be improvised. Every airbag we build for an event like this is engineered specifically for the movement it needs to absorb. In this case, we are talking about jumps from a moving cabin, at altitude, with athletes attempting movements that have never been captured on camera before. The airbag has to be safe, precise, and consistent for every single landing, no matter which athlete is coming down or from what angle.”

European ski resorts have a reputation for being a bit loosey goosey when it comes to sketchy on-mountain activities as compared to their North American counterparts and the Munky’s Air Jam is no exception. Pretty wild stuff indeed.
