Congratulations to CU Boulder Computer Science PhD candidate Corey Murphey who emerged on the beach at Incline Village, Nevada on Wednesday to set a new record for swimming the length of Lake Tahoe and back. Murphey completed the 42.56 swim across the largest alpine lake in North America in 20 hours, 54 minutes.
Murphey absolutely smashed the previous record by over 1.5 hours while also establishing a new one-way record in the north-south direction (10 hours pending LTMSF ratification).
Corey was piloted by Tom Linthicum and John Grunstad, observed by Cathy Harrington and Rhys Singrin, with Sarah Thomas and Jill Murphey alternating crew and kayaking duties. Once again congratulations to Corey, simply incredible!
