Professional skier Parkin Costain won’t be needing a fresh base grind on his sticks before he puts them away for the summer after this raucous summer trip into the Montana backcountry.
There was still plenty of great spring corn snow on the south facing slopes but there were also plenty of dry spots intermixed. Rather than simply hiking through the rocks, Costain broke out his avalanche shovel and filled in a few patches to provide enough glide for a continuous ride down.
