Australia — Details are sketchy but it looks like the world-first rotating ski tunnel will be constructed in a suburb of Melbourne, Australia by late 2026.
Snowtunnel is a rotating tunnel lined with real snow which provides “an endless mountain to ride.” The dimensions of the ski simulator are pretty gigantic standing 4-stories tall and 52 feet in length. The cylinder can be rotated at variable speed control to suit every level of skier from beginners and seasoned pros.
The exact location of the colossal hamster wheel style indoor snow facility has not been specified but the renderings from the company place it within eyeshot of the Melbourne skyline:
“We are thrilled to reveal that Melbourne’s booming West will officially be the world-first Pilot Showcase Site for Snowtunnel! Opening in late 2026.” -Snowtunnel
Snowtunnel is actively looking for people to join their “test crew” to be some of the first to try out tubular skiing (signup here). We sincerely hope this isn’t just wishful thinking from the folks at Snowtunnel as we would love to see this wild concept come to fruition. Time will tell. Fingers crossed.
