Bogus Basin in Idaho is closed for the season, but it looks like someone forgot to tell the weather. The ski area received more than 20 inches of new snow through a recent storm, and the forecast has more in store through the rest of the week. There’s no skiing or snowboarding but the live snow marker camera is still active, so there are still employees hard at work keeping the stake clear.
One employee managed to create a viral moment after clearing the snow stake, with his snowmobile getting stuck in the snow leaving him stranded on the mountain. The guy pushed, dug out snow, or worked on the machine, hoping to get on his way before finally pushing the sled off camera. The entire event was captured and later shared by the Bogus Basin social media team.
According to the comments, this was a Polaris TITAN snowmobile, a sled generally advertised for its ability to handle workhorse conditions. It’s not clear what exactly happened in this case, but we’re glad the employee was able to get out of there eventually.
Bogus Basin is reminding the public that the forest service timber project resumes April 27th with closures of Bogus Basin Road set for Monday-Friday, 8am-11am and 1pm-3pm.
