Vail Mountain on April 9th, the day after closing day.

Yesterday, April 8th, was the last day of the season for Vail Mountain in Colorado. With the conclusion of the winter season at one of the state’s most iconic ski areas, it would be hard to argue that skiing isn’t coming to an end. There are still 6 ski areas open in Colorado, though, many of which are yet to announce a closing date.

Vail’s final day included skiing off Eagle Bahn Gondola, Gondola One, Mountaintop Express, Wildwood Express, and Little Eagle, with beginner skiing and snowboarding off Eagle Bahn Gondola. Uploading and downloading were required to access the snow for the final few days. Finally, to wrap it all up, Vail hosted a Closing Day Party at Avanti F&B, offering drink specials every hour and music on the patio to close out the season.

That said, 6 ski areas are still open across the state, a few on both the Epic and Ikon Passes, and a few independent. So if you’re still hoping to ski this year, don’t give up hope yet. The season isn’t over for Colorado.
