Steamboat Springs, Colorado — Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp. is growing its presence in Yampa Valley.
Last week, the Steamboat Pilot & Today reported that Resort Group has been sold to Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp. For reference, Steamboat is part of the Alterra Mountain Company.
Resort Group brings extensive hospitality and lodging offerings to the ski resort’s portfolio. The benefit of this merger for Resort Group is increased investment and additional resources. Home or property owners associated with Resort Group benefit from increased revenue from their rentals. They will also benefit from the ski resort’s marketing ability.
“This is an exciting step forward for the lodging landscape in Steamboat,” said Blair McNamara, Steamboat’s VP of Lodging. “By combining Resort Group’s proven track record and SSRC’s brand, systems and approach, we’re building a lodging platform that benefits guests, owners, employees and the broader community.”
Established in 1986 to run a hotel in Galveston, Texas, Resort Group eventually shifted its focus to managing properties in Steamboat Springs. The group manages Mountain Resorts and 77 homeowner’s associations. Some of the notable properties that have their property management and most nightly rentals run by the Resort Group include Antlers Steamboat Springs Condominiums, Phoenix at Steamboat Condominium, and Trauper’s Crossing Resort. The company also has a vacation sales center that matches guests with potential rentals that suit their needs. In 2022, they purchased the Inn at Steamboat, which has 34 units, for their employees.
“We are thrilled to pursue a rare opportunity to combine our 50 years of experience and resources with SSRC,” said Steve Frasier, Resort Group’s CEO. “As an established leader in rental and association management in Steamboat Springs, we are uniquely positioned to partner with SSRC to expand its reach into property management and nightly rental lodging.”
It doesn’t appear that much will change with the newly acquired company. Resort Group is expected to operate normally and under its current structure as part of the deal. That’s good news for their reportedly festive parties.
