Yosemite National Park, California — A fire broke out at the historic Ahwahnee Hotel inside Yosemite National Park Monday evening. Smoke was seen billowing out of the top floors of the structure built in 1927 to draw more affluent visitors to Yosemite National Park.
SF Gate reports the incident happened around 6:45pm and hotel staff worked to extinguish the flames before a before a fire truck arrived on scene. Several employees reported the fire was connected to an elevator repair.
No official statements have been made by either Yosemite National Park or The Ahwahnee Hotel about the cause of the blaze. We will be sure to update this story when more information becomes available.
