One of the greatest things to happen this season was the introduction of the Corbet’s Couloir live camera at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Not only does it provide a great background while working from home or relaxing on a weekend (I throw it on my TV nearly every day, just for the vibes), but it’s also managed to create some seriously entertaining moments.
If you somehow don’t know what Corbet’s Couloir is, it’s easily among the most legendary ski runs in the world, if not the most legendary. It features a 20-foot drop and a 50-degree pitch, providing a venue for top skiers and snowboarders to test their skills. Sometimes people overestimate their abilities though and mind-blowing wipeouts like this one occur, part of the reason we enjoy the live camera so much.
Not exactly clear what went wrong in this guy’s fall, though it appears he jammed his skis into the side wall, flipping him backwards and pushing him off the edge. This was a pretty brutal fall, so hopefully the guy is doing okay.
If you’re going to ski Corbet’s Couloir, make sure you’re truly confident in your own abilities as a skier/snowboarder. Don’t do it because you feel like you have to or someone is pressuring you to, do it because you know you can make it.
