Iran — Iran isn’t known for its skiing, but it should be.

Iran is a mountainous country that’s home to superb skiing. It’s actually home to the largest ski resort in the Middle East: Dizin. It’s pretty large in and of itself, but it’s also situated near Shemshak and Darbandsar ski resorts.

In a recently released video by Benbookstheworld, he details the skiing experience in Dizin and Iran. He gets to experience the local culture, check out the rental gear situation, and ski around the mountain. He filmed this in April 2025, so it was definitely corn season.

I sincerely hope you didn’t immediately book a flight to Iran after watching that video, because I will now act as your travel agent. Please do not consider going to Iran this winter. Protests against the Iranian regime were prevalent earlier this year. The government responded by killing over 6,000 people (some estimates have it being over 30,000) and jailing many others. President Trump continues to threaten the country with attacks, as it’s reported that the regime has diminished power due to various factors. It’s worth waiting to see what happens in Iran before traveling.

I’ve always wanted to visit Iran, and skiing is one of the reasons. Let’s hope peace and a new government can come soon for the Iranian people, because they deserve it.
