No matter how experienced you are as a skier or snowboarder, working your way down a very crowded, narrow trail can be a terrifying experience. You don’t know how consistent the people around you are, how strong their skiing or riding is, if you can safely pass them, or if someone is going to fly up and hit you from behind. This video from Avoriaz Alpine Ski School provides a pretty solid technique for managing these situations.
Essentially the instructor recommends sticking to one side, doing turns in one direction without weaving in and out of traffic. While this video is specifically for bumpy trails, it can work on any narrow, crowded route. Of course this isn’t exactly skiing, so hopefully the run you’re forced to do it on is more of a traveling route rather than the trail you hope to spend most of your day on.
