Marysville, Montana If ski areas are looking to increase their transparency with customers, they should take some notes from Great Divide Ski Area.

This past weekend wasn’t easy for the Divide. Two lifts had mechanical breakdowns and required repairs. Add in the typical crowds you see at a ski area during the weekend, and it can lead to disgruntled guests. So it helps when your marketing team and General Manager (Travis Crawford) are on point with their messaging.

That was the case throughout the weekend, but it was best represented by their weekend review post from yesterday. The General Manager broke down the day-by-day issues, how they handled it, and what work still needs to be done. It goes to show you how much it takes to keep a mountain operational.

As on Monday, Great Divide has 80 trails and 3 lifts open. The Good Luck chairlift remains down due to the need to fix the auxiliary transmission. Great Divide is aiming to reopen that lift on Wednesday. The ski area has only received 48″ inches so far this winter, so some new snow would be nice.

About Great Divide

Known as Montana’s sunniest ski area, it’s full of memorable terrain. The ski area features 123 trails across 1,500 skiable acres, 6 lifts, and a vertical drop of 1,500 feet. Yeah, this place is biggr than you think. There is also a huge chunk of terrain on the lower portion of Rawhide Peak that will be brought in as a future expansion. Night skiing is offered, albeit on a small amount of terrain.

Lift tickets are cheap in terms of ski industry standards, costing only $65 for a day. There’s also the option to purchase an hourly ticket, which is also reasonably priced.
