Colorado — With the strike at Telluride having no end in sight, other ski areas are getting creative in supporting Telluride workers and guests.

Monarch Mountain recently announced that it is offering Telluride employees and their dependents up to three days of free skiing. Also, if you have a Telluride season pass or day ticket purchased between December 29th and January 8th, you get a free day of skiing or riding at Monarch.

This situation also allowed Monarch to promote its Migration Ticket, which gives passholders from other mountains the chance to purchase a $69 (nice) lift ticket. Now that’s epic.

So far this winter, Monarch Mountain has managed to get a good portion of its terrain open despite not receiving much natural snowfall. Monarch has no snowmaking, so it relies on the stuff falling from the sky to open. However, it’s snowing right now at Monarch, and it’s starting to pile up.

Monarch’s new expansion, No Name Basin, has yet to open, but that could change soon.
