At least three skier have died following an avalanche near the summit of Panticosa Ski Resort in northern Spain near the French border.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident at around 1:00pm local time. Officers from the Civil Guard’s Greim Mountain Rescue and Search Unit were immediately dispatched to the scene and began searching for victims.
The deadly slide struck on the west face of Pico Tablato and reportedly involved a group of six people. The nationalities of those killed have not yet been released. Officials have confirmed that two of the victims were men and one was a woman. Rescuers are currently continuing to search for victims with the help of search dogs.
