Warm up before skiing.
Warm up before skiing.

Skiing asks a lot of our bodies, engaging our legs, core, back, and much more. When arriving at the mountain, many people like to throw on the gear and get straight on the chairlift, but even a few warmup runs aren’t guaranteed to be enough to loosen up your body for the day ahead. This 15-minute warm up from Outdoor Adventure Training, ideally done right before putting on your gear for the day, preps your hips, ankles, and core so you can move well from the start.

All you need for this mobility warm up is a yoga mat and enough space, whether that’s in your hotel room, condo, or living room. If you’re arriving to the mountain after a long drive, doing something like this can be difficult especially if you’re just in the parking lot, but getting your body warmed up and moving is a great way to reduce the risk of injuries.
