Little Cottonwood Canyon — Ski season has been moving at a snail’s pace in Utah, as terrain and lift openings have been slow. This means that any terrain opening is exciting, even if it has a total skiable footprint of half an acre.

Yesterday, Snowbird announced that the Chickadee Conveyer is now open.

It shared the news in a flashy social media video. The video features so many explosions that it would even make Michael Bay blush. The magic carpet gives access to some death-defying terrain, such as the Chickaddee Chutes (a green circle). A ski patroller stopped by to show off his impressive skills, showing how only the most daring can take on this lift. Wait, does this mean that Mineral’s open?

Jokes aside, the Conveyer is part of the learning area for Chickadee, serving as the first step before novices try out the chairlift. It’s one of the two beginner zones at Snowbird, with the other being at the Gad base area. It may not be known for it, but there are decent beginner offerings in Little Cottonwood Canyon. You just need the right mindset for it.

In less exciting news, Snowbird also added top-to-bottom skiing off the tram and opened its new mid-mountain lodge this week. Yawn, my lungs are fine with conveyor laps.

Including the IG reel as well because I like this song choice more.
