Loveland Ski Area celebrated opening day at Loveland Vally today, November 21st, and with it came the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the ski area’s brand-new Leitner-Poma fixed-grip quad chairlift.

The new quad replaces Loveland’s fixed-grip double Lift 7, increasing the carrying capacity from 1200 to 2000 passengers per hour. Though it is a quad, and thus has room for up to 4 people, the ski area plans to limit ridership to just 3 people per chair to make for a more comfortable loading, riding, and unloading experience.

Loveland itself kicked off their 88th season earlier this month on November 8th, but today’s celebration brings much desired beginner terrain. The ski area now has three open lifts, including Chet’s Dream, Lift 7, and the Rainbow Carpet, and 5 open trails. The next open lift is expected to be Chair 2 in Loveland Basin.
