Hermon, Maine — While many in the Bangor community assume this will be the final season at New Hermon Mountain, a couple is aiming to gather investors to purchase the ski area.

A Family Skiing In Maine reports that this past weekend, local Nicole Herstik posted in the Ski The Northeast Facebook group that they are seeking investors to buy New Hermon Mountain. The two potential new owners are Nicole Herstik, a former Australian Olympic ski racer, and Jesse Clement, an avid motocross biker. I’d be wary of sharing this news if they didn’t have local connections, but the two own and operate Big Air Farm MX Track in Oakfield, Maine.

Here’s their pitch to potential investors:

Calling All Mountain Lovers & Visionary Investors! 🏔️

My husband and I are on a mission to save a piece of Maine’s soul — a 69-acre, family-run ski resort that’s been a winter tradition for 4 decades in our extended family and we want to see it stay for more generations to come. It generates over $250K in just 4 months, and with $1.1M in federal funding secured by us, we’re already halfway there.

Now we need $1.5M to finish the purchase and elevate this gem to its full potential — from snowmaking to year-round outdoor recreation and community events. We already have years of experience with Summertime events and sports and winter skiing is our our blood.

📩 If you believe in high-impact community investments, and sustainability with federal funding and community spirit in New England Maine area let’s talk. This could be your chance to be a part of transforming the mountain. Let’s build something real, community-driven, and unforgettable. 💙🎿

About New Hermon Mountain

Situated ten minutes away from Bangor, New Hermon Mountain (also known as Hermon Mountain for some reason) serves as a feeder hill to the larger options in Maine. The ski area features 20 trails, 3 lifts, a vertical drop of 350 feet, and night skiing. Outside of skiing and riding, there’s also a tubing park. In the summertime, there doesn’t appear to be much going on there, so maybe that’s a future business opportunity for new ownership.
