Marcus Goguen's warmup stretches.
Marcus Goguen's warmup stretches.

Professional skier Marcus Goguen is certainly someone you can trust with ski advice. At just 21-years-old, he’s already competed in three seasons of the Freeride World Tour, coming in second place overall in 2024 and first place overall in 2025. When someone like him provides advice on going injury free during the ski season, it’s worth listening.

Many people like to hop on the slopes without doing much to stretch out their limbs, treating the first handful of runs as “warmup runs”. But, especially in the early season, this is a great way to wind up with an injury. Goguen provided a few warmup stretches you can do before you get on the mountain in the video below.

You’ll notice that some of these stretches aren’t exactly possible with ski boots on. Personally I like to do some warmup stretches right before I hop in the lift line, but the stretches in the above video are more designed to be down right before heading to the mountain. If you’ve got a long drive ahead of you, these might not be the move, but if you live right near the mountain, these are a great way to get the blood flowing.
