Stowe, Vermont — Jay isn’t the only ski resort in Vermont that’s been having a great November. Mount Mansfield has been seeing pow at a historic rate, with the snowpack now at a record level.
With this snow depth, Stowe Mountain Resort won’t just be opening this weekend; it will open one day early with many trails. Originally planning to open on November 22nd, Stowe announced yesterday that it will open on November 21st at 9 a.m. After that, the lifts will go back to their regular operating hours.
Over 50 trails and more than 200 acres of skiable terrain will be open. Some of the projected open runs include Nosedive, Hayride, and the fabled Front Four. Not bad for opening day. The operating on-mountain lifts for opening weekend will be the FourRunner Quad, Sunrise Six, Adventure Triple, and Meadows Carpet.
“We’re beyond stoked to kick off the winter season and 90th anniversary of Stowe’s iconic Ski and Ride School,” said Mike Giorgio, Vice President and General Manager of Stowe Mountain Resort. “Our team has been working nonstop to get everything dialed in, leading to the largest amount of open terrain on day one at Stowe in recent memory. We’re so ready to welcome the Stowe Mountain family back to the slopes! There’s nothing like that day one feeling when you’re back on snow.”
Vail Resorts also plans to open other Vermont mountains this weekend, with Okemo officially opening on November 22nd. Mount Snow is also scheduled to open on November 22nd, but an official announcement has yet to be given by the Southern Vermont ski resort.
What’s New at Stowe
The big upgrade is a refresh of the Midway Lodge (the lodge near the Gondola). The new Tower 5 Bar inside the lodge will include local cuisine and an elevated apres experience with craft cocktails.
There’s also a new food truck. Situated in the base area, Base Camp Bites will feature some tasty Asian cuisine.
A new event series, Seasons at Stowe, started this fall with Harvest Fest. It will continue on January 30-31 with Winter Glow.
Stowe is also celebrating the 90th anniversary of their Ski and Ride School and the 30th anniversary of Stowe Parks.
