On November 14th, 2025, at around 1:30pm, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue received a call related to a 57-year-old woman who had broken her ankle on the Picketpost Mountain Trail in Superior, Arizona.

Search and rescue deputies, along with a Border Patrol Search, Trauma, and Rescue paramedic reached the hiker with a helicopter, treating her on the trail before hoisting her to safety. The woman was brought to a local hospital in a stable condition.

According to Summitpost.org, Picketpost Mountain rises nearly 2,000 feet above the town of Superior, standing solo with no ridges connecting to other peaks. With the hot summers of Arizona, Picketpost is best climbed between October and March. The AllTrails route to the summit is 4 miles out-and-back.
