New York — A superb week of cold and snowy weather in the Northeast was capped off by several openings around the Northeast, which included Whiteface Mountain.

Snowmaking efforts over the past few weeks, combined with natural snowfall, allowed Whiteface to open for a preview weekend on November 15th. Guests rode the Face Lift up, which ends next to the base of the Summit Quad. The skiable terrain was available by riding the Summit Quad. To download, guests took a ride down from the Face Lift.

While crowds did show up, that’s to be expected when you’re the only ski resort open in the state. Guests praised conditions, with a mix of natural and man-made snow, which led to some good ripping for November.

Lincoln Riddle captured the experience from the first day, showing how good it was for mid-November.

On Sunday, Whiteface had eight trails and two lifts open. Unfortunately, heavy winds forced the early closure of the lifts.

Whiteface is closed for the next couple of days. It will reopen on Friday for a season passholders day. The recent snow and snowmaking temperatures likely mean that Whiteface will be able to grow its trail count. The next priority for snowmakers is to open from top to bottom.
