North Carolina Hatley Pointe, which was formerly known as Wolf Ridge, was in rough shape a couple of years ago.

Before new ownership arrived in 2023, the trail count gradually reduced over time, and the ski seasons were short. That’s no longer the case. Hatley Pointe positions itself as the “newest” ski resort on the East Coast due to its transformation. Do I agree with that logic? Not really, but it’s good marketing, and it does look like a completely different mountain compared to 2023. Regardless, over two years of hard work and investments have positioned Hatley Pointe as one of the best skiing experiences in North Carolina and the Southeast.

Guests will be pleased to hear that more changes await them for the upcoming winter. Referenced improvements for the 2025-26 season include two new ski trails, the regrading of several pistes, adding sixty new light poles for improved night skiing visibility, removing the old double chairlift, refurbishing the summit chairlift, added a few new buildings in the base area (home to ski patrol, snowsports school, and an unannounced project), more snowmaking gungs, replacing 2,000 feet of snowmaking pipeline, upgrading 3,000 feet of electrical lines(better snowmaking production), and adding RFID gates. Whew, I need a drink of the alcoholic variety after typing all that out.

In terms of the new trails, one of them is a new beginner run (Pat’s Way) that provides an alternate route from the Eagle beginner piste. The other, The Glades, allows exploration of the woods.

We have been hard at work shaping a new slope designed to make the transition more enjoyable.

For those who prefer mountain biking, we have good news for you. Hatley Pointe has been working with Elevated Trail Design on a new mountain biking trail network. The bike park is expected to open in summer 2026.

Snowmaking has begun at Hatley Pointe. It aims to begin its season on November 28th.
