Grand Canyon National Park is closing the North Rim to all visitors beginning on Friday, November 14th, at 5:20pm in preparation for the winter ahead. Portions of the North Rim are tentatively scheduled to reopen for the 2026 season on May 15th as long as weather, trail conditions, and infrastructure are ready and hazard mitigation efforts are complete.
Access to the North Rim reopened in the Fall following an extended closure due to the Dragon Bravo Fire. It was tentatively scheduled to remain open until November 30th, but winter weather and snowfall expected this weekend has forced the park to push the closure up.
Fire damaged trees, unstable ground, and unmitigated debris are still a risk across teh North Rim and along the North Kaibab Trail. As such, the North Rim developed area, adjacent areas, select trails including the North Kaibab Trial, and all North Rim Roads will be fully closed for the winter season.
Violations of these Grand Canyon National Park closures will be strictly enforced. The North Kaibab Trail is set to remain closed until further notice due to damage and rockfalls along the upper section of the trail. Current trail conditions and the status of rim-based trails can be found here.
