Sunday River in Maine is opening tomorrow.

Phenomenal news for New England skiers and snowboarders as Sunday River in Maine has announced their opening date for tomorrow, Wednesday, November 12th, matching that of Vermont’s Killington to be the first open ski resorts in the Northeast for the 2025/2026 ski season.

Tomorrow, we’re opening exclusive access to New England Pass, Ikon Pass, Mountain Collective, and Ticket Pack holders so if you haven’t locked in yourย season passย yet, now’s the time to make it happen. Starting Thursday, we’ll open the fun to those with daily lift tickets, which will be live for purchase on the website this evening.” – Sunday River

The Locke Mountain Triple will start spinning at 9am with skiing and snowboarding on T2. As an important note, the skiing and snowboarding scheduled to open is advanced terrain only, so if you’re still working on getting comfortable on your gear, you’d better sit this one out. The snow guns will be running all day as well, so make sure to layer up.

The terrain at Sunday River will require a download from the mid-station. While their opening date is certainly good news alone, the upcoming forecast is looking perfect for strong snowmaking. 215 guns are currently working to blast 6,500 gallons water water per minute on T2, Lollapalooza, Rogue Angel, Sunday Punch, and more. With dropping temperatures, more than 350 guns could be running tonight. Top to bottom skiing and snowboarding could be coming soon.
