Someone has reached the summit of most significant mountains around the world at this point. Every mountain over 8,000 meters has been summited and several people have stood atop the tallest mountains on every continent, but there are still a handful of tall, unclimbed mountains around the world. Curiosity Dude took a look at some of the tallest, whether they’ve never been summited because of difficulty or because of religious reasons.

Highest Mountains No One Has Ever Climbed (Why?)

9 mountains were discussed in the video. The most iconic and well known is likely Mount Kailash, stretching to a height of around 21,778 feet. This stunning mountain is sacred in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Bön, leading the Chinese government to never issue climbing permits.

The highest unclimbed mountain in the world is Gangkhar Puensum, stretching to a total height of 24,835 feet. There have been a few attempts to summit this towering peak, but Bhutan banned all climbing above 6,000 meters in 1994 primarily due to spiritual reasons and beliefs.
