Companies like Red Bull and GoPro have been deploying a highly successful marketing strategy of staging stunts featuring their athletes to promote their products for decades and looks like DJI has decided to follow suit.
Climber, skier and highline world record holder Julien Roux was tapped for this world’s first feat where he ascended a climbing wall suspended under a hot air ballon 16,371 feet above eastern France on October 14th, 2025:
“This is an idea I got when I discovered the world of hot air balloons. As I discovered this world, I discovered a new kind of passion. And what’s better than mixing two passions?”
Normally climbing ropes are essential safety gear for ascents with this much exposure but all Roux needed was a parachute to ensure a soft landing. Might not be the toughest climb but the combination of thin air and nerves were no joke.
