Skiers, snowboarders, and students at the University of Utah are set for quite the rail jam on Friday, November 7th, as freestyle skiing icon and X Games Gold Medalist Tom Wallisch is set to make an appearance during the event.
Wallisch was born and raised in Pennsylvania, but he moved out west to pursue skiing and attend the University of Utah for college. After a few years studying at the University, his skiing career took off and his education was put on the back burner.
For around 7 years, Wallisch was traveling nonstop, landing sponsorships, filming segments, and competing for the U.S. in international competition, but he eventually came back and finished up college, earning a degree after around 12 years.
The Associated Students of the University of Utah (ASUU)ย is partnering with Woodward Park City, a crew Wallisch works with professionally, to bring the ASUU Rail Jam to campus between 4-10pm on Friday. The competition will feature some serious competition, wild tricks, and 50% of all event proceeds will go to theย Huntsman Mental Health Foundation.
โThis is where it all started. Back then, I was just a kid from Pennsylvania with a dream and a class schedule built around snow days. Now, to be back here doing this, itโs surreal. It feels like things have come full circle.โ – Tom Wallisch
