Introducing the world’s first Snowtunnel, delivering real snow experiences, all year long.

A wild new artificial ski slope design was just unveiled by an Australian company promising infinite ski turns on fresh snow thanks to a design you will be familiar with if you have ever owned a pet hamster. Snowtunnel is a rotating 4-story tall tunnel lined with real snow that spins at variable speed to suit the needs of all levels of skiers and snowboarders.

At 52.5-feet across, the tunnel has plenty of room for users to arc huge turns and experience the different slope pitches depending on where they position themselves on the wall.

“We’re on a mission to ignite a passion for the alpine lifestyle in people of all ages and backgrounds, promoting adventure, community, and a love for the winter outdoors through sustainable, cutting-edge technology and engaging activities The world’s first indoor snow park with real snow, graded slopes and the patented Snowtunnel endless mountain technology.” Snowtunnel

The concept is easy to understand after watching this 49 second promo video, how exactly they plan on pulling it off is not yet clear. Check it out:

Snowtunnel Timeline

According to a timeline listed on Snowtunnel’s website, the business was established in 2022 when founder Chris Northwood developed the first commercial concepts of the Snowtunnel and co-founder and CEO Scott Kessler joined the team to bring the idea to life.

By 2023, a 33-foot proof of concept prototype was fabricated and ridden by the first ever Snowtunnel Test Crew. After experiencing the “incredible advances” Dan Portelli joined the team as the third co-founder and COO.

2024 saw an acceleration of research and development in production tunnel redesign and engineering, site selection and assessment projects as well as Techno Alpin, industry leading snowmaking systems company, joining Snowtunnel as a foundational partner.

In 2025 a senior advisory and marketing team was appointed and additional foundational partners were added. Snowtunnel established an R&D testing lab and started making real snow. Tunnel construction is reportedly underway and their location pipeline is expanding globally:

“We’ve built a strong global pipeline across regions with little or no natural snow.  We’ll reveal more very soon.” -Snowtunnel

Details are sparse on how this bold design will function in real life but Snowtunnel reports it has a working prototype and have started to make real snow. We will be sure to update this article when new information becomes available. If you would like to “stay in the loop” and receive updates directly from Snowtunnel sign up here.
