The Los Angeles police were deployed to the yearly eruption of DIY skateboard madness known as the Halloween Hellbomb after a Waymo vehicle was heavily damaged by a raucous group of skateboarders.
The Halloween Hellbomb is described as a “raw celebration of skateboarding, creativity, and carnage” where there are no judges and no rules, “just skaters building and pushing limits in the name of fun.” While the spirit of the event is “community-built chaos”, organizers have issued a statement disavowing the vandalism and confrontations with law enforcement in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday night. Halloween Hellbomb also pointed out the incidents happened outside of their permitted event space.
The following is a Citizen App video showing Waymo vehicle getting vandalized with crowds cheering on the destruction:
LAPD Central Division reports attendees to the event failed to disperse when requested to do so and threw bottles and skateboard parts at the line of officers. One person riding a skateboard “at speed” attempted to run into a line of officers. Traffic in the area was shut down and less-lethal tactics were used to clear streets. It is currently unclear if any arrests were made. An active investigation is underway. Read Halloween Hellbomb’s statement below:

Halloween Hellbomb Statement
Thank you to everybody who attended yesterday’s event in the classic Hellbomb spirit and to our hellbomb community worldwide. We would be nothing without the support from our very passionate fanbase.
Regarding the incidents that occurred outside of our permitted event space, Halloween Hellbomb does not and will never condone any vandalism or activities that do not involve skateboarding in the halloween spirit. We are deeply upset that these incidents outside of the permitted event space caused our event to conclude early, jeopardizing the experience for everybody.
We are working with the city of los angeles and sponsoring brands to ensure future events run smoothly and safely.
Happy Halloween!
