New York After being listed for sale last December, a ski area in New York is being sold and converted into something else.

NewsChannel 9 WSYR Syracuse reports that Four Season Golf and Ski Center is in the process of shutting down. The current owner, John Goodfellow, is finalizing a sale of the property. What the new owner will convert it to hasn’t been officially announced yet, but the plans won’t include skiing, snow tubing, golf, or pretending you’re Ohtani in the batting cages. John Goodfellow aimed to sell it to someone who would operate it for recreation, but there wasn’t much interest in that.

Due to the pending sale, the property is in the everything must go phase. Rental gear and the chairlift are for sale. New York’s Oak Mountain bought the old magic carpet and has already removed and moved the lift.

Its final day of operations will be November 15th, meaning it won’t open for the 2025-26 ski season.

The official statement from Four Seasons Golf and Ski Center is below.

“To Our Friends and Customers,

After decades of serving the Central New York community, we want to share that Four Seasons Golf & Ski Center will be closing, as the property is undergoing a pending sale, and the new owner has other plans for the site.

While this marks the end of an incredible chapter, we want to express our deepest gratitude to all who made Four Seasons so special; the families who learned to ski here, the golfers who spent summers on our driving range, our dedicated staff, and the generations of guests who made countless memories with us over the years.

Your support and friendship have meant the world to us. We’re proud to have been a part of your lives and the Fayetteville community for so long.

From all of us at Four Seasons Golf & Ski Center, thank you for the memories, the laughter, and the years of fun.”

About Four Seasons Golf and Ski Center

The center began as a driving range in 1958, with the first rope tow being added in 1962. The Four Seasons was a small ski area with six trails, a few lifts, and a vertical drop of 100 feet. This made it a great place to learn for those in Fayetteville.

During the summertime, the site was home to a mini golf course, a golf driving range, soccer cages, and batting cages. However, a sale is being finalized, with plans to convert it into a non-recreational site.

It should be noted that this has no affiliation with the Four Seasons hotel brand or Four Seasons Total Landscaping.
