Sun Valley, Idaho – Sun Valley’s had a transformative start to the 2020s, and more changes are coming for the winter of 2025-26.

Yesterday, Sun Valley Resort announced what’s new for the 2025-26 season. The major additions include new glades, RFID integration, and new adult ski camps.

Sun Valley Resort's 90th Season

The marquee addition is the introduction of 90 acres of new glade skiing. Four glades have been developed for this upcoming winter. This includes Tim’s (black diamond), located skier’s left of Exhibition; Pioneer Bowl (black diamond), skier’s left of Sleeping Bear; Bear Den (black diamond), and Sheep Camp (intermediate), both of which are on skier’s left of Olympic Lane. You can check out the new trail map with the added glades here.

These additions are part of the Bald Mountain Forest Stewardship project, which is being carried out in collaboration with the U.S. Forest Service (USFS), the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), and the National Forest Foundation. These projects aim to reduce wildfire risk and provide firewood to local Indigenous communities.

This project has led to the creation of over 350 acres of glade skiing over the past five years, most of which is intended for advanced skiers and riders.

To make getting through lift mazes easier, Sun Valley is finally introducing RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology. This will be added at lift mazes at the River Run and Warm Springs base areas, and at Dollar Mountain. Sun Valley’s partner mountain, Snowbasin, is also adding RFID for this upcoming winter. This news follows three new lift additions over the past few winters (Seattle Ridge, Flying Squirrel, and Challenger).

New this year will be multi-day Adult Camps. These camps will help skiers and riders grow their skills in a group setting. The four camps feature offerings for a range of ability levels.

Lastly, Dollar Mountain is introducing Sunny’s Adventure Park. This terrain park will have features that will make it enjoyable for adventurers of all ages.

“Sun Valley has never been just a ski resort,” said Pete Sonntag, the Chief Operating Officer at Sun Valley Resort. “For 90 seasons, families and friends have been coming here to build tradition and make special memories, from generation to generation. This milestone season, we’re carrying that legacy forward while remaining invested in the guest experience. From newly gladed terrain to upgraded RFID systems to exciting Dollar Mountain updates, we’re honoring what Sun Valley has always been while introducing enhancements that make each season feel memorable.”
