North America — If you’re a skier who loves taking on challenging terrain, this list will give you an idea of what should be on your bucket list.

In a video by Rise & Alpine, he ranks his twenty favorite ski resorts in North America. Based in Western Canada, his list includes picks across the Northwest, along with some mountains in Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming. His criteria come down to which ski resorts have the best terrain and access to the backcountry. His top five include Fernie, Jackson Hole, Kicking Horse, Snowbird/Alta (categorized as one resort due to its interconnect), and Whistler Blackcomb.

North America Ski Resorts RANKED - Worst to Best

Whistler Blackcomb is his top pick thanks to its endless amount of terrain and backcountry access. Ironically, he recently released a video saying you shouldn’t take a Canadian ski vacation to Whistler Blackcomb. That’s effective crowd control right there.

Part of the reasoning comes from the fact that Whistler is his home mountain, which shows how hard it is to beat your home mountain for shredding. If I were to make a best ski resort list, Mount Sunapee would probably be on top over Snowbird. Who needs powder when you have frozen granular and a Waffle Cabin? On second thought…
