Several hiking trails in Zion National Park are currently closed as wildland firefighters battle a 25-acre fire ignited by a lightning strike.
The fire in the West Rim area of Zion National Park was reported to park staff at approximately 12:30 pm on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. Firefighters from the National Park Service and partners are actively addressing the flames. Currently 25 wildland firefighters and one type 3 helicopter, conducting water drops, have been deployed.ย
In response to the fire, Zion has temporarily closed Lava Point Road and West Rim trail. The West Rim trail is currently closed between Scout Lookout and Lava Point.
