Shenzhen, China โ€” A record-breaking ski resort development in China has promptly been outdone by yet another massive structure in the Middle Kingdom.

This week, Qianhai Huafa Snow World in China opened its doors. This surpassed L+ Snow Indoor Skiing Theme Resort in Shanghai as the biggest indoor ski resort, which only opened last year. The 24.7-acre Shenzen facility features 5 trails and a vertical drop of 273.2 feet.

โ€œItโ€™s great that they built this. Skiers wonโ€™t have to sit through boring summers anymore,โ€ said Xie Siya, a Guangdong resident, to SCMP. As a skier, I can relate to this mindset.

In terms of the skiing there, a few YouTubers have shared their experience online. In a video by Rafa Goes Around!, the individual checks out the new indoor ski facility. While his skiing abilities aren’t the same as Candide Thovex’s, the video below does give a first glimpse of what the guest experience is like there.

Comparing The Two Largest Indoor Ski Resorts

Last year, L+ Snow opened up in Shanghai. Its size is 98,828.7 square meters (1,063,783 ftยฒ 39.37 inยฒ), or in simpler terms, over 1 million square feet. In comparison, Snow World is 100,000 square meters. Shenzhen’s ski resort is the size of 11 football fields (not the American kind).

Size-wise, Shenzhen is slightly bigger. Personally, I prefer the one in Shanghai a bit more, as the more detailed theming gives it more of an atmosphere compared to the facility in Shenzhen. Also, Shanghai’s black diamond trail looks like fun, even if it’s on the shorter side.
