In a bit of very welcome news to skiers and snowboarders throughout Colorado, Copper Mountain has unofficially kicked off winter 2025 – 2026 by firing up their snowmaking guns this morning, October 1st, 2025.
Overnight temperatures dropped low enough for snowmaking to begin, with guns firing along multiple trails. Crews will continue to work over the next several weeks, making snow whenever the temperatures allow to prepare for the season ahead. Copper’s opening day is currently scheduled for Friday, November 7th.
Copper Mountain began a massive, multi-year snowmaking modernization project this past summer, pushing upgrades across 9 trails to allow for more reliable early season terrain. The Stifel Copper Cup presented by United Airlines is set to go down between November 27th and November 30th, while Copper will host the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix will go down between December 17th and December 20th.
