Copper pit mine rescue in Arizona.
Copper pit mine rescue in Arizona.

At around 2am on September 13th, Cochise County Search and Rescue in Arizona was activated to assist a male subject who had managed to get himself stuck at the bottom of an open pit copper mine near the town of Bisbee.

The man called 911 for assistance around 1am, stating that he was stuck at the bottom of the Lavender Pit and needed assistance. Mine security was contacted, but they were unable to reach the subject due to condemned roads.

The rescue crew contacted Tucson DPS Air Rescue Ranger to assist, and the helicopter arrived around 2am to conduct a recon flight. After the recon, they landed at the Pit Overlook to onboard Rescue Specialist Deuce.

The crew was then able to conduct a hover ingress of the male who had apparently sustained some type of injured. As such, he was taken directly to Copper Queen Hospital for further treatment.
