Killington, Vermont — Yesterday was the biggest day of Killington Resort’s offseason, as the Vermont ski resort saw helicopter and construction crews install lift towers for the new Superstar chairlift.
Doppelmayr helicopter crews collaborated with workers on or near the ground to assemble the new lift towers for the Superstar chairlift. This multi-hour effort resulted in around fifty trips by helicopter crews to install the various parts of the 11 lift towers.

This offseason, Killington Resort is replacing the Superstar Express high-speed quad chairlift with a detachable high-speed six-pack chairlift. While these seats carry more people, the new Superstar will have a similar capacity compared to the old chairlift. Its heavier chairs will allow for more reliable operations, meaning fewer windholds. The price for this new chairlift is $12 million. Killington is aiming to have the lift ready to operate in November.
Other projects at Killington this offseason include 500 new snowmaking guns, replacing the gondola cabins on Skyeship, building a new barn for these cabins, replacing the Ledgewood Yurt, adding a new surface lift at Snowshed, adding a new pump over at the Bear Mountain snowmaking pumphouse, and more.
