A hiker in Alaska survived a grizzly bear mauling according to reports by the Anchorage Fire Department. The woman was hiking the Dome Trail in Anchorage Tuesday afternoon when the attack occurred:

“Just before 2:30 this afternoon, our fire department and dispatch center got a 911 call about an injured hiker. The person reported that they were out hiking in the Dome Trail area, and they said that they were attacked by a grizzly bear and they were having trouble moving and they needed help.” –Anchorage Fire Department Spokesperson, Megan Peters

Using a drone, it took approximately one hour for rescuers identify the injured hiker’s location and additional time to reach her about two miles down the Dome Trail. State wildlife troopers utilized a helicopter to airlift the woman to an Anchorage hospital where she was treated for injuries described as serious but not life-threatening.
