ALTA, Utah – Alta Ski Area is a legendary mountain. It’s one of very few areas left in North America that don’t allow snowboarders, consistently sees snowfall totals well above a majority of resorts across the country, and features some truly remarkable terrain. It features two base areas, allowing visitors to pick their desired experience from the second they get to the mountain.
The Wildcat Base Area is most ideal for intermediate and expert skiers. It features a UTA bus stop, the Wildcat Parking Lot, and the Alta Medical Clinic. The ski shop here does not carry beginner rentals, just performance demos, and the Wildcat Lift serves only intermediate and expert terrain in addition to providing access to Snowbird.
The Albion Base Area, on the other hand, is best suited for beginners. It’s home to the Albion and Grizzly Gulch parking lots and an Alta Shuttle Stop. Here guests can access the family-friendly Albion Grill, the Alta Ski Shop with rentals for all ability levels, and the Alf Engen Ski School for lessons. Plus the Learn-to-Ski area, featuring multiple ski conveyers and the Snowpine lift, is accessible from this base.
